Services related to Powder Technology

At the beginning of my career at Roche I had the chance to be intensively trained in chemical engineering with intensive courses in powder analytics as well as powder technology. This allowed me to tap into expertise from other specialized industries (e.g. mining industry). This knowledge in combination with a broad experience in formulation research in solid dosage forms is perfect and unique for trouble shooting in formulation development as well as manufacturing. During my time as powder technology expert I was able to solve a number of manufacturing issues with high relevance and urgency for the respective product and was member of the Roche Process change Commission.
In order to do this I have evaluated and introduced a number of innovative methods for particle characterization into Roche (e.g. BET, Dynamic Vapor Sorption (surface cristallinity), Mütec Surface Charge measurement, Invers Gas Chromatography, Ring Shear Cell). The focus of these new methods was to complete the understanding of the physico-chemical powder properties leading to a better prediction of the formulation process.
Despite having left technical research years ago I was regularly consulted until the near past in cases of formulation/manufacturing issues with high impact on the respective products.

As I was already asked for support in an issue related to powder properties I decided to include this service

  • Interpretation of existing analytical data in light of the manufacturing process

  • Support in selection of additional relevant powder-analytical methods
  • Identification of potentially relevant process parameter
  • Proposal of process adaptations potentially leading to a more robust manufacturing process
