About me

Dr Alexander Bausch

Since January 2013 I am an independent consultant supporting Venture Capital Funds as well as small biotech companies in drug development/project team leadership issues.

Prior to this I was a Vice president in Global Product Strategy (business) at Hoffmann La Roche. In this last role as Life Cycle Leader for Bitopertin in Schizophrenia I successfully planned and implemented a global phase 3 program, positioned the drug, built the launch roadmap and Life Cycle strategy (6 indications approved). I can build on more than 10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical project leadership in all development phases and several indications. These successful leadership skills are documented by three CEO Awards for very fast development of Carmegliptin in diabetes (clinical phase 1 and 2 up availability of phase 2b data in less than 20 month) as well as successful development and positioning of Aleglitazar in cardiovascular disease (currently phase 3) and Bitopertin in Schizophrenia (currently phase 3). As project leader I initiated clinical development for more than 10 compounds, brought 4 compounds successfully in phase 2 and one in phase 3.
Prior to the role as project leader I gained 10 years’ experience in technical research/technical project leadership finally as head of Solid Dosage Form development at Hoffmann La Roche in Basel. I am an expert in formulation research, aerosol development, as well as in powder technology.
